About photoidkit

A small, independent tool for one job: getting the format exactly right without touching your face.

photoidkit is built and run by Nan Liang, who also writes at javaeye.dev. It exists because passport photo pricing is opaque: the same 2×2in photo costs $0.35 or $17 depending on which door you walk through, and most online makers hide the real price until after you have uploaded your face.

What we do

  • Format, never faces. We crop to millimeters, align, and swap the background to pure white where the rules allow it. We never beautify, reshape or “correct” a face.
  • Cite the rule, not our opinion. Every country page links to the official source (travel.state.gov, canada.ca, gov.uk…). When rules change, the source wins.
  • Check before money changes hands. The pre-check runs before checkout, and a warning blocks payment — because paying for a photo that will be rejected helps nobody.
  • Delete, don’t store. Uploaded photos exist only in memory for the preview and are discarded. We have no photo database to leak.

What we do not do

  • We do not remove watermarks, edit ID documents, or help modify photos for any purpose other than a compliant identity photo.
  • We do not promise acceptance. The issuing authority decides; our pre-check is a helpful filter, not an approval.
